Get answers where conversations are already happening
We've spent years building a powerful workspace where data teams can do their best work. Since launching Threads earlier this month, the Hex Agent has answered thousands of questions from analysts and stakeholders — delivering fast, trusted insights for teams like PandaDoc.
But insights shouldn't be locked away in a single interface. We believe they should be accessible wherever and whenever you need them.
That’s why we're excited to announce two new entry points for tapping into Hex's agentic capabilities: a native Slack integration and Model Context Protocol (MCP) support.
Together, these updates make it even easier to bring trusted context and answers from the Hex Agent into the tools you already use every day.
Join our live virtual event on November 5th for a demo of the Hex Agent in Slack and implementation best practices with audience Q&A.
If you're on a data team, you're probably familiar with the pattern: someone spins up an #ask-data Slack channel, and it quickly becomes the go-to spot for every data request. New questions roll in faster than analysts can keep up. It works, but it’s manual, time-consuming, and leaves your data team drowning in tickets.
Now, you can install the Hex app in Slack and simply mention @Hex in any channel to kick off a conversation. Ask a question, and the agent gets to work: searching your warehouse and semantic models, writing SQL, analyzing results, and responding directly in-thread. You’ll get a clear answer with an explanation of its work, any relevant charts, and links to existing Hex projects.
It’s especially great for those quick, in-the-moment questions when you're away from your computer. Need to check yesterday's signups before a meeting? Curious about regional performance? Just ask Hex in Slack from your phone, on the go.
When it’s this easy to ask questions, people ask more of them. Those questions that used to be too small to bother someone about can now be handled by the Hex Agent in minutes, 24/7.
The Hex Agent in Slack is available to Explorer+ seats on Team and Enterprise plans for US multi-tenant stacks. Admins can install the Slack integration for their workspace.
If you're on a single-tenant stack or based in the EU, reach out to [email protected] if you’re interested — we'll keep you posted as we roll it out to your environment.
Here's where things get even more powerful: every Slack response from the agent is backed by the full power of Hex.
You can click into the conversation in Threads to see the agent’s complete thought process, interact directly with the charts, and ask follow-up questions.
If a business user hits a roadblock or wants to validate the answer, they can loop in the data team to convert a thread into a Hex notebook — making it easy to inspect the logic or take the analysis further with help from the Notebook Agent.
And when insights are ready to share, publishing your work adds to Hex’s collective context that the agent can draw on next time. That means the more you build in Hex, the smarter it gets.

Another way to bring the Hex Agent into your existing workflows is with our new MCP server. This lets you ask data questions and access Hex context without leaving your code editor or AI tool of choice.
With Hex’s MCP server, familiar AI assistants like Claude Desktop, Claude Code, and Cursor can now search across existing Hex projects and kick off new analyses — with more functionality on the way.
There’s no need to build a custom API integration. Just connect via OAuth, with one-click setup for a growing list of MCP clients. You can also use the MCP server to integrate the Hex Agent with your own internal tools and applications.
The MCP server is available to Explorer+ seats on Team and Enterprise plans.

AI-powered analytics are only as useful as they are accessible. With our new Slack integration and MCP server, the Hex Agent meets people in their existing workflows — helping them get answers faster, explore data, and make smarter decisions.
And because every interaction is backed by a Hex notebook, you get the speed and convenience of chat with the transparency your team needs to feel confident in the results.
We're excited to see how these integrations unlock new ways for people to collaborate with agents, and we plan to bring Hex to even more surfaces. If you have any feedback or requests, we’d love to hear them!
