Hex and ClickHouse are official partners
The Fastest Warehouse Meets the Smartest Analytics Platform
Hundreds of customers already rely on Hex and ClickHouse to power their most critical analytical workloads. Today, we're excited to announce our expanded partnership with ClickHouse, in tandem with the launch of the new chDB 4 product. This adds native chDB support to our already-tight integration with the ClickHouse data warehouse.
Data work is changing, fast — and the tools that data teams use need to change with it. AI agents have entered the picture, generating more analytical workloads and amplifying users’ abilities to ask questions of their data. The old infrastructure wasn’t built for this moment. Hex and ClickHouse are.
ClickHouse: a powerful database built for agentic analysis
For most of the history of data infrastructure, databases have been selected for specific workloads. Transactional databases for your application. A warehouse for analytics. A time-series database for metrics. Each was the right tool for its job - but together, they created architectural complexity that became a constant tax on the data team.
Agents are only increasing the load on databases. The availability of a chatbot to assist you in pretty much every app increases the number of questions people can ask from data, not to mention any other automations or workflows running against application databases.
ClickHouse has been on the cutting edge here for a while - it’s built for high concurrency and premium performance. What’s new is the availability to use chDB, ClickHouse’s in-process python library, as a data store, turning ClickHouse from a high performing streaming data and application database into an analytical data warehouse.
Hex: the AI Analytics Platform
At Hex, we’re no stranger to the challenges of scaling data work. We’re constantly encountering teams that are juggling dashboards, notebooks, reports, spreadsheets, and SQL editors, with no single tool serving the full spectrum of users.
Of course, AI is changing that - more users can ask questions of their data directly, but at what cost? Adding a chatbot on top of your existing stack just amplifies the problem. We want more people asking more questions of data, but it sheds an even brighter light on these classic scaling problems:
- How do you monitor these agents?
- What questions are users asking, and what's missing from the answers?
- What context and metadata is needed to actually improve them over time?
- How do technical and non-technical workflows stay connected without creating yet another layer of tool fragmentation?
We’ve been hard at work building a powerful platform that we think does a good job at answering these questions. And today, we’re excited to natively offer chDB in Hex. From Hex, quickly and securely connect to your ClickHouse instance using chDB. This supports pandas-like workflows that lazily execute against your ClickHouse instance.
Agents themselves will keep getting more capable, but what will determine success, when organizations deploy them, is the platform they have access to.
Hex & ClickHouse
ClickHouse consolidates what used to require multiple specialized systems — streaming data, event logging at billions of rows, data warehousing, ML inference, and now agentic workloads — into a single engine. Gone are the days of stitching together pipelines just to move data between tools before you can extract any value from it.
Every user in the business now has an agent writing SQL on their behalf. That changes the concurrency requirements of your data platform entirely. ClickHouse is built for this reality at the data layer, handling the volume and speed that agentic workflows demand without buckling under the cost.
Hex is designed for agentic workflows from the ground up. Deep analysis, conversational self-serve, and ad hoc exploration all live in one platform supported by agents. The Context Studio provides the observability to understand what agents are doing and the compounding context to make them better over time.
The way users interact with their data has fundamentally changed and this stack is built for it.

chDB is a fast, reliable, and scalable in-process database. We leverage your existing ClickHouse connection to provide a more secure experience without the need for managing credentials, hidden files, or secrets.

Building a scalable foundation for AI
Agents are changing the demands placed on data, and platforms that weren't designed for it are showing their limits. Agentic analytics isn't a feature you add. It's a foundation you build. One that handles concurrency at scale, keeps costs in check as volume grows, and gives every user a single place to work, build, and deploy.
As we work more closely together, ClickHouse and Hex are thinking about new ways for customers to build this foundation and make it scale. Keep your eye out for more from us.
