At Hex, our mission is to bring everyone together with data. We believe folks on product, finance, ops, sales, and marketing teams should be able to ask and answer questions with data, just as easily as the data team.
Last year, we launched Explore to do just that: provide business users with a first-class workflow for exploring and visualizing data without a single line of code.
But we recognize there’s still some wrangling along the way from finding the right table to figuring out the best visualization, when all you really want is to just... ask your question and get an answer!
That's why we're thrilled to share something new we're working on: Ask Magic in Explore — a conversational AI interface deeply integrated with Hex, your data, and your workflow.
We're rolling this out as a private preview – if you're interested, get in touch!
On the home page of your Hex workspace, just type your question, and Magic will surface relevant published data apps or create a first draft of an analysis from scratch. From there, Magic will automatically generate a summary of the insight, highlight what data was used, and explain how the analysis was generated.
Want to dig deeper? With Ask Magic in Explore, it'll be easier than ever to keep iterating on existing explorations. Magic will join new data, build charts, add filters, and even generate calculations — all in response to requests in natural language.
We’re working on bringing Hex to where your team and stakeholders are already asking questions: in Slack. Mention "@Hex" in any Slack channel to directly ask Magic a question, and get back relevant published apps and a generated exploration in the thread.
Let Magic take the first pass at handling all the quick questions that get dropped in your #ask-data channel — leaving more time for your team to focus on deep analytical work.
We've all been there. Someone looks at a dashboard and immediately asks, "But what about just the enterprise segment?" or "Can I see this quarterly instead?” Coming soon, anyone will be able to ask follow-up questions directly from a published app while maintaining the context of the original analysis.
Production-grade dashboards that were once a view-only asset will become a trusted starting point for your stakeholders to explore using Ask Magic. The data team can curate and maintain full control over data sources accessible to Magic through endorsed warehouse data and semantic models.
Yep, that’s right — Magic will leverage governed metrics and business logic from your synced semantic models. No need to copy and paste queries or maintain fragmented logic across multiple tools. Magic lives where your data team works, allowing it to learn from usage context and metadata.
We’re excited for Magic to become your organization's first line of defense for quick questions, freeing up your data team to focus on high-impact, strategic work.
